‘Cut and Tear’ Collagraph Relief with Tetra Pak

Description Join guest tutor and printmaker Lisa Stubbs for a fun one-day workshop exploring the creative potential of Tetra Pak as a surface for creating images through collagraph techniques, combined with relief-based inking methods.  Using recycled Tetra Pak cartons as your printing plates, over the course of the workshop you’ll learn how to cut, tear, and peel away surface layers of the laminated cardboard to create textures and tonal effects. This approach combines the tactile satisfaction of collagraph printing with the simplicity of relief techniques.   Throughout the workshop, you’ll create a series of printed images; experimenting with composition and inking techniques.   Your tutor: Lisa Stubbs Lisa is a printmaker and teacher working in-between her studio in the beautiful hills of the Colne valley and the print rooms here at WYPW. Lisa’s work is playful and experimental, combining different print processes to create her prints.  Currently Lisa is working with TetraPak printing, adding Chine-collé and blind emboss, but also creates work by screen printing and monoprinting with the etching press, jig-sawing these processes together, inspired by narrative illustration and vintage graphics.  You can see more of Lisa’s practice on Instagram  Experience level Beginners welcome as well as experienced printmakers to inform and develop their existing practice. Also great for Teachers / Educators as this process translates really well for classroom settings where a press is available. What’s included? All course prices include basic materials such as inks, paper, tools and equipment. What do I need to prepare beforehand? Students are welcome to bring their own ideas/sketches/drawings but it’s not a requirement, there will be lots of inspiration to inspire spontaneous new ideas on the day. Itinerary : Hello and introduction to the day and the processes you’ll be learning Inspiration and generating some artwork to use during the workshop Demonstrations of the inking and printing process Play and explore – plenty of time to investigate the process and get to grips with the basics of plate creation and inking and printing techniques. Such a transfer will be on condition that we are informed in writing of your intentions four weeks prior to the originally booked event. Bookings can only be transferred once. If you are unable to attend, and not in a position either to transfer to another event, then the following charges will apply: Cancellation charges 16-12 weeks before the course: 50 % of the fee will be retained by WYPW Less than 12 weeks before the course: 100% of the fee will be retained by WYPW Please note that full payment is required for non-attendance on a booking that has been transferred.
